Hi Howard, I am currently studying at uni, and I am planning and going traveling next year. I have been askings for different peoples advice, as I want to make my travels as rewarding and productive as possible (as well as being able to have a smoke, and enjoy/appreciate my new enviroment even more). After being inspired by Mr. Nice, and the unbelievable numerous locations you must have visited all over the world, you seemed like the perfect person to ask if there any particular places or sights you would recommend I visit. I am completely open to any suggestions at all and any thoughts. Thanks for taking the time to read this and any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou, Daniel. |

The world id full of beautiful places where one can get a smoke. I' obviously can't write an itinerary, but I would start by going to rural Jamaica. I'm really not trying (in this sentence) to promote my new book, Senor Nice, but that will have to do as the long answer to your question.

| I haven't been there for years. Traditionally, it has been the best market for hash oil since the 1960's, probably because in most of the country, it's cold enough to turn the oil into a solid, making it much easier to cut and distribute than the messy marmite one tends to find elsewhere. Outdoor grown marijuana is excellent but very seasonal. Indoor happens like it does everywhere. They were used to very good hash (Pak and Af) so I doubt if soap bar would have ever begun to get too popular. |

Before I came to University, I travelled around China. I was certain that I wouldn't be getting stoned while I was there, I was under the impression that the police would have your dick on a plate for using drugs. However, good quality hash is so easy to score in the big cities. In Shanghai, just look for dudes selling melons, theres a fair chance they're selling hash aswell. Just say to them 'hashish?' if they have some, you'll know about it, if not just walk away. There is also the added advantage, which I learnt while I was there, that the Chinese police really do not want to confront a westerner. They are actually discouraged from doing so by the government. I was in Shanghai for about 3 months because I was volunteer teaching in a school there. The volunteers who were there before me though had found a, wait for it, coffee shop  . I'm not kidding, this coffeshop rivalled anything in Amsterdam for cotchability. It was a small bar downstairs, with a couple of bar stools but up stairs it was a big open plan room with low tables and loads of cushions, nice ambient lighting and always nice mellow tunes. There was also a resident cat  This is going to start sounding far fetched but there was a resident dealer called 'Yusef' who actually gave out business cards with his name and mobile number on. I was probably getting ripped off by his standards but a lump of nice soft hash, about the size of a AAA battery was 100 yuan, about 7 quid. It was better than any hash I've ever had in Britain hands down.One time though, while I was in the toilet downstairs, the police turned up. I was getting ready to leg it, I didn't want to chance it but my boots were upstairs. I crept out really quietly and snook into the bar. I could hear the police radio's outside, I looked at the barman and he was as calm as f**k. I was so confused. I walked upstairs and all my mates were pulling their shoes on fast, saying the cops were here. I started to panic again so I got my shoes on, started to make my way down the stairs and theres a cop standing right there on the stairs looking at me. He stepped aside and ushered me past. We just left, no hassle. My heart was beating like a drum though. We went back and checked the place out again a couple nights later, it was still open, no problems, we assume they must have been paying the cops off  good times!So yeah, if you want to do some serious travelling, see some of the most amazing scenery and culture and still smoke hash, go to China. The flight may be a bit pricy but once you're there, it's dirt cheap. You can live on £2 a day + accomodation which again is dirt cheap. I'm going back as soon as I finish University to get a job teaching English out there. -------------

Maybe! I tell you, you wouldn't regret going there if you just want travel experience and still be able to get high.

if howard does actually read this then what can i say exept i've really enjoyed every thing you've wrote and even got to speek to you for bout 10 mins after a show you did at keele university nr stoke-on-tent in 2004, doubt you remember but i've got some great photo's of me and you, was a top night. as for travel morroco sounds,looks and smells nice to me and you can get some great flight deals! |
